Notes for EMILIA GRIFFIS:
John Griffis lived in Bullock & Montgomery Counties, and was cut into Emanuel County, in 1812. He was a Justice of Inferior Court of Emanuel County from 1817 until May 1821, when he moved from the County. He moved to Appling County, where he was immediately elected to a vacancy on the Inferior Court Bench of the newly-formed County. He was commissioned November 12, 1821, and served until he died in March 1824.
An apprisement of his estate in Appling County was made September 21. 1825 by Abraham Eason, Samuel Griffis and Joel Griffis, appraisers, and a copy sent to Emanuel County and recorded. The Appling County estate records having been burned, this Emanuel County record is the only record that can be found of his estate.
The widow returned to Emanuel County, and qualified as guardian for the children below, except Elizabeth, Feburary 6, 1826. She was appointed administratrix September 5, 1825 in Emanuel County. Mr. Robert James Robinson
